My CVS Shopping Trip..

I bought 2 Easter baskets on clearance for 90% off, 5 Palmolive dish liquids, 1 Schick Intuition Plus razor, 4 Scrubbing Bubbles Shower refills, and 5 Visine 0.50 oz. Total before coupons was $55.97. I used $41.25 in coupons, $5.00 off of $25.00 from a CVS receipt and $10.00 in extra care bucks. So, I paid $9.72 including tax for $55.97 worth of items!!! I also received $4.00 Extra Care Bucks from the Schick Intuition razor, $5.00 ECB for from Palmolive and Scrubbing Bubbles and $10 ECB from the Visine for a total of $19.00 in Extra Care Bucks to be used at my next CVS trip...

I saw a few posts on other sites that many Kmart's are participating in this promotion. My advice is to call your local Kmart to find out. I called the corporate office and Mt. Vernon, Ohio will be doubling coupons valued up to $2.00...

Storing cakes and icing tips...

I usually bake my cakes a few days ahead and store them in the freezer. First reason is because it frees up my time and I can concentrate on decorating. Second reason is a frozen is MUCH easier to work with..It is very simple (obviously). All I do after I bake a cake, is let it cool for a couple of hours and wrap the cake in several layers of Glad Press-n-Seal. When I am ready to decorate, I remove the plastic wrap and let sit until it starts to thaw. Otherwise, if you start icing right away condensation builds on the cake. You will find that it is much easier to icing the cake.

Monster Truck Birthday Cake..

I have to admit this is probably one of the best cakes I did. My son loved it for his 4th B-Day party.

Grew up on these sugar cookies...

Every since I was a little girl, I remember these cookies. They are absolutely my favorite and I make them for every occasion.

Sugar Cookies
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
1 cup sour cream
5 cups flower
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt

Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer. Add eggs one at a time until mixed together well. Add sour cream and vanilla. Combine the flour mixture slowly with the wet mixture. You many need to add more flour depending on how wet the dough is.

Sprinkle sugar on a cutting board or a counter. Take a handful of the dough mixture and roll it around in the sugar. Use a rolling pin and roll the dough to 1/8 inch. Use your favorite cookie cutters to make seasonal shapes. Place on a ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. The cookies don't spread out too much. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-11 minutes.

When the cookies are lightly browned, place on a cooling rack for about 1/2 hour. Now you can use icing from a can or I use the Wilton buttercream icing recipe. Yields about 3 dozen cookies.

Cocoa Krispies on sale for $2.50. Use coupon from Red Plum or Smart Source 4/5 for $1.00 off making a box $1.50.

Kroger in Sunbury, Ohio...

I can confirm that Kroger in Sunbury, Ohio will be tripling coupons valued up to $0.50 starting tomorrow Thursday, April 9 2009. I believe several Kroger stores are participating, so you may want to call your local store. Here is a couple of deals I found:

French's Yellow Mustard 14 oz. is currently on sale for $1.00. I found a coupon for $0.30 off in the March 29, 2009 Smart Source insert from the Sunday paper. So that makes the mustard...get ready.....$0.10 a piece!!!! Here is the math: $1.00 - $0.30 X 3 = $0.10 a piece.

French's Spicy Brown Mustard 12 oz. is currently on sale for $1.00. There is a coupon for $1.00 off in the same insert as above so that makes the item FREE!!! However, you do have to pay for sales tax, but I'm not complaining.

Hopefully, I will have more deals to add tomorrow. I didn't see many deals you would benefit from in the current Kroger sales ad using triple coupons, but I will be making a trip there tomorrow. I will hopefully find more deals and pass them along.
